Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2021!
It feels good to put 2020 behind us and welcome the new year with open arms and hopeful minds. This week in new music releases seems to reflect that as well - the songs feel fresh and insightful.
Anyone by Justin Bieber speaks of a love so precious that it surpasses all others. The chord progressions in the chorus have such a satisfying resolution that it is most pleasant to listen to.
Celeste's voice beckons to us in a sultry way in Love Is Back. I am elated to hear this type of jazzy sound emerge from a new artist. Celeste's songs have soul and depth to them that is often lacking in modern music.
Swedish duo Smith & Thell play with poetry in Radioactive Rain. Sometimes I get lost in listening to so much music that I need some really thoughtful lyrics to bring me back. In Radioactive Rain, it was "and now I jump without a parachute again/Typical of me to never think 'bout where I land".
