01/11/21 - New Music Monday
Updated: Jan 17, 2021

Happy Monday!
This week in new music was exciting, fresh and full of great new releases. Here are my favorite finds from this week:
Come In Closer - Rhye. It's not often that the bass is the most intoxicating part of a song but I first heard Come In Closer with headphones on and on my second listen, played it through crappy speakers with no bass and was devastated. Not only is this a beautiful song, with lyrical poetry and soft falsetto, but each instrument has it's own story to tell and you can hear it if you listen closely.
Sand In My Boots - Morgan Wallen. Wallen's new album Dangerous: The Double Album is really long but surprisingly really good. I had a hard time narrowing it down to just three songs to pick for the playlist this week. His sound is modern country but he doesn't sacrifice a current sound for meaningless lyrics like many of today's country artists. Sand In My Boots is very much a 'one that got away' song that is dripping in nostalgia and a love of where you're from.
Drivers license - Olivia Rodrigo. Delicate and aching, Rodrigo's voice turns what could be a very simple song into a piercing and impactful one. Her voice in the choruses are crystal clear and have such a pure tone it is absolute ear candy.
