03/29/2021 - New Music Monday
Updated: Apr 4, 2021

Happy Monday lovely music fans.
I bought sandals this week while daydreaming about weather that's hot enough to wear them. I felt absolutely silly walking around in them to try them on, I feel like I've had socks on since October and being without them is odd and foreign.
The best parts of discovering good new music are both sharing it with your closest friends and also playing the song (or songs) over and over again until it feels like a friend. That song for me this week was "(L)only Child" by salem Ilese. ilese is really talented, that word gets thrown around a lot but she absolutely deserves the praise. Her lyrics are clever without being obvious and her songs are catchy and fresh.
Lana Del Rey returns with her new album Chemtrails Over the Country Club . It sounds like her - she hasn't reinvented herself in order to fit whatever genre she thinks is popular right now and this is a delight because it means she hasn't changed what makes her special. The song we picked to feature from the album is "Wild At Heart". It illuminates the beautiful ethereal qualities of Del Rey's voice and at the lowest part of the melody, brings in some grit as she sings "and it made me wild, wild at heart".
Belgian artist Lost Frequencies gives us the motivation to face the week with his song "Rise". The lyrics speak about the weight and darkness of the past year and fighting for the courage to keep going despite your doubt and fears. Well done indeed.
