Happy Monday!
If you celebrate Easter, I hope you had a good holiday. If you don't celebrate, I hope you had a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend. For me, a sign of a good weekend is when I've completely forgotten about the work week and I am fully immersed in the happenings of the present moment I'm experiencing.
There are few artists who have been as open and realistic about their struggles with addiction and mental health problems as Demi Lovato. I think it's really important to not romanticize addiction or make it seem like "that's what happens when you're famous" and Lovato draws on her personal experience with these demons in her song 'Dancing With the Devil". Not only are her vocals flawless but her lyrics are chilling and real. It's impossible not to get chills when listening to this song.
We've featured NF a few times on New Music Monday now and he's become easy to pick out of a crowd. There's a distinctive raw emotion and urgency in his lyrics and a sound that stands up and says "Hey, notice me!" His new song "JUST LIKE YOU" speaks to the collective unease and instability of the world's mental health right now and basically says, it's okay not to be okay.
"Let It Ring" by Reiley is cheeky and uses the well-known iPhone stock ringtone that will most likely drive iPhone users nuts when they listen to it. If you can look beyond that, you'll find that it's playful, clever and downright fun.
