04/19/21 - New Music Monday

Happy Monday!
This was the first weekend in a while where I planned time to relax and do more enjoyable things instead of rushing around trying to check things off a to-do list and it was really satisfying. The playlist this week mimics that vibe, a smooth and focused welcome to the new week.
When you need a reset and a refreshing perspective, pause and let the synth-pop sounds of "Sunshine" by Korine wash over you. While the verses speak of struggles and relationship difficulties, the chorus takes on a more hopeful outcome. The synth keys carry the melody throughout the song and carry on, independent of the vocals which makes for really pleasant ear candy.
"Kids" by Benny Sings feat. KYLE is funky, adorable and definitely a jam. It's a tender love story about two people who were never supposed to work but never left each other's side since they were kids. It's plays with electronic instruments and auto-tune on the vocals to give it a unique sound that's all it's own.
"counting houses" by Luz is poetry about growing pains and self-described as being for "reassurance and hope to anyone who may be struggling with self identity". The verses quietly set up for the chorus to cinematically soar with emotion.
