07/05/21 New Music Monday
I hope your 4th of July was fun and full of bursts of color in the night sky. The 4th has always been one of those holidays that I either have all the plans for or I forget that it's happening. My other wish for you is that you get to enjoy a long weekend and today is your 2nd Sunday instead of scary Monday.
After a hiatus to enjoy time with his new family, Ed Sheeran returns with a very different sound. "Bad Habits" has a very polished pop sound that is far more commercial than his past work. That being said, it has an undeniable spark that commands the attention of your ears from the first drum beat. Sheeran's vocals are blended into the mix rather than out in front and center which gives it the feel of a dance track.
Speaking of Ed Sheeran, someone who was just recently signed to his Gingerbread Man records is Maisie Peters. I love her conversational way of relaying heartbreak and relatable lyrics that help your imagination with vivid imagery. Her new single "Psycho" is about a toxic ex who still doesn't want you seeing anyone else but still cuts down your character every chance they get and keeps contacting you even though they're in a relationship.
