Happy Monday readers,
This weekend felt heavy as the US relived the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and honored the lives lost. It's a reminder that no matter how distanced you are from a tragedy, it's possible to feel empathy towards victims and survivors. There's a beauty in loss and how it can bring us all together in the healing process.
Kacey Musgraves released her new album star-crossed on Friday, it's dripping in nostalgia, regrets and loss. Musgraves' lyrics are always insightful and introspective and this album is no exception as she navigates past a tumultuous area in her personal life. "hookup scene" is particularly poignant as she remarks that being single isn't as glamourous as it's made out to be and how it makes you miss the intimacy of a relationship.
Troye Sivan graces us with a big pop love ballad, full of synth and booming a kick drum to bring the drama. It's self-described as a "mega-pop, gay power ballad" and it's a comforting and contrasting song for this week's playlist which is heavy on the emotional side this week.
