10/19/20 - New Music Monday
Updated: Oct 25, 2020

Happy Monday everyone.
How are you doing - how are you REALLY doing? This past week was extremely tough for me for a lot of reasons and this playlist came together later in the week than it normally does. But everything happens for a reason because I discovered Commander in Chief by Demi Lovato and boy was I blessed to hear it. This was an extremely brave move for her, some might say it put a target on her back but I'm so glad she spoke up and used her platform to say what she did. These lyrics feel justified, badly needed and ringing with the pain so many people are feeling. Well done, Demi.
An artist who I feel is going to be well-known soon in the US is Astrid S. I featured two songs from her new album Leave It Beautiful because I couldn't choose between them. The whole album is good and I encourage you to listen to it.
A song I wasn't sure I wanted to feature was Lonely by Justin Bieber (Featuring benny blanco). At first listen, it felt like an 'oh poor me' song by another famous person but after watching his performance on SNL this weekend I changed my mind. Bieber is an exceptionally talented singer and I think people can relate to his pain, and hear it in his voice and connect with his lyrics.
To wrap up the playlist this week, we have the title track from Sasha Sloan's new album Only Child . Stripped down and acoustic, Sloan's honest lyrics create a fantasy childhood where she's not the only child but where she has a sister or a brother and she's not so lonely.
